Interpretation and Definition
“Authority” means the relevant government departments of Singapore;
“bank”, “bank in Singapore” and “banking business” have the meanings given by section 2(1) of the Banking Act (Cap. 19);
“charge” includes any agreement to give or execute a charge whether upon demand or otherwise;
“consumer”, "user" and "client" means an individual who, otherwise than exclusively in the course of business —
(a) receives or has the right to receive services from a service provider; or
(b) has a legal obligation to pay a service provider for services that have been or are to be supplied to another individual;
“contract of service” means any agreement, whether written or oral, express or implied, whereby one person agrees to employ another as an employee (service provider) and that other agrees to serve his or her employer as an employee and includes a contract or agreement;
“currency” means currency notes and coins that are legal tender in Singapore or a country or territory other than Singapore;
“day” means a period of 24 hours beginning at midnight;
“dependent” means any of the following members of an employee’s family, namely, wife, husband, father, mother, child and any adopted or illegitimate child living with or dependent on the client;
“electronic communication” means communication transmitted (whether from one person to another, from one device to another, from a person to a device or from a device to a person) —
(a) by means of a telecommunication system; or
(b) by other means but while in an electronic form,
Such that it can (where particular conditions are met) be received in legible form or be made legible following receipt in non‑legible form;
“month” means calendar month;
“payment system” means a funds transfer system or other system that facilitates the circulation of money, and includes any instruments and procedures that relate to the system;
“service provider” is an individual or entity that provides services to another party. The provision of services between a service provider and the consumer(s) is typically governed by a service agreement;
“terms of service” is a type of document or information, whether written or oral, expressed or implied, whereby the service provider states the details of what the service provider is responsible for as well as clients or consumers obligations to that must be adhered to for continuation of the service.
“week” means a continuous period of 7 days;
